“Where does he get those wonderful toys?” — The Joker in Batman

The first thing I ever read was a Batman comic, so I guess it comes as no surprise that I am fascinated by and love to collect things associated with the Dark Knight. But the thing I enjoy the most is Batman’s transportation, the Batmobile.

How I love this one!It seems like every artist who draws an issue of a Batman comic has to create his own version of the Batmobile. Some have been terrific, while some have been silly. I mean, who could drive a car with huge and intricate spikes jutting out of the thing? Not even Batman can pull that off!

I’m going to list some of my favorite versions of the Batmobile next. And if I can find some of the silly stuff, I’ll post that, too!

Since I write the stories for SciFiPulse.net that appear on Mondays, I came across this interesting article about the most recent episode of Doctor Who–at least, the one that aired in the UK last Saturday:

Why is Graham Norton near Matt Smith's mouth?>>It happened during the very emotional sequence at the end of “The Time Of Angels” as it aired on the BBC in the UK.

While Matt Smith, the Eleventh Doctor, was talking to the baddies, an on-screen caption with an animated cartoon of Graham Norton, who hosts Over The Rainbow, appeared at the bottom of the frame, covering part of Smith’s face (including his mouth) as he gave the stirring speech.

Thousands of Doctor Who fans have since contacted the BBC to say that the ending of Saturday night’s episode was ruined by that trailer for the following show. The advertisement was seen by millions of viewers watching on BBC One in England, according to the BBC.

Get your headphones ready! The last couple of days, I’ve finally gotten to spend some time figuring out the digital voice recorder and stereo microphone I bought back in the summer of 2009. I was pleasantly surprised when I recorded my voice tonight–it sounds pretty good!

Why did I buy this in the first place? Well, come August, Randy and I have press passes to the Baltimore Comic-Con, which hopefully will give me the chance to interview some of my favorite comics creators, including Geoff Johns, Dan DiDio and Mark Waid. I’d love to be able to contribute some interviews for the SciFiPulse podcast I co-host each Sunday at 5 PM ET. That would be a great way to start, seems to me.

Is this me punching a time clock?Today was my first day working my new schedule. As I expected, I had trouble sleeping last night because I knew I had to be on time for my first day, or die trying!

Several errands were done before I got there, including a doctor’s appointment. I’m doing well enough that my meds are being reduced. I liked that!

It was weird knowing I had to leave at 10 p.m. But the one constant in life is change, and I’ll grow with it. I guess the payoff will be Saturday when I can go to the store and maybe even go out with friends from the U.S.S. Chesapeake Writers’ Group!

MusicOne of the things I enjoy doing most is making my own “mixes” of music, and I usually do that by a theme. For instance, I have ten playlists of holiday/Christmas music, nine of pop songs I like, favorites of performers I particularly enjoy, Halloween and patriotic music.

It’s Raining Again is in my “Stormy/Rainy Weather” list. And as I write this, it is raining outside.

Currently, my favorite artists include Enya, Jim Brickman, Jim Chappell, Jon Schmidt, Mannheim Steamroller, David Lanz and Bryce Miller. I have always enjoyed what is now called “New Age,” so I listen to a lot of piano and vocal songs these days. I used to enjoy pop, but I don’t see many new songs I like by artists I prefer coming out these days. So I depend on the web and Facebook to keep me up to date on my guys and gals.

WayneWhere this blog will go, nobody knows–not even me! I’ll probably just start out with some personal thoughts, then go more into my areas of interest, which hopefully others will enjoy as well!

Thanks to Ian Cullen at scifipulse.net for helping me learn WordPress and giving me the opportunities to help with the site and with the podcast. Thanks to Scott Klein for setting the blog up and for answering my questions!

With the advent of May, I’ll be back to working Monday-Friday, which will be nice. I’ve missed getting together with the club on Saturdays. My hours will change to 2 to 10 p.m., which will give me a schedule closer to “reality,” as it were. Not that I minded working the days and hours that others would prefer not to–I enjoy being flexible. But since the passing of my mother back in October of 2008, life has been decidedly different. And all the things I’ve gone through have been educational, but also difficult. I’ve got to get back on track financially. I’ll get back to a level playing field soon.
