There are stories that are tough to read. I never like seeing anyone fall, particularly someone who is considered a community hero.

Here’s the article from the CBS/Miami website:

>>BOYNTON BEACH (CBS4) – Considered a role model by his peers and named “Officer of the Year” in 2010, Boynton Beach police officer David Britto has been charged with conspiring to sell more than 500 grams of methamphetamines between June 2009 and March 2011.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration announced the indictment Tuesday against Britto who joined the Boynton Beach police department in 2007. He also taught in the department’s Teen Police Academy, according to the Palm Beach Post.

I’m a big fan of the Syfy program Warehouse 13, which is about a secret government organization (aren’t they all?) that retrieves artifacts with special powers and stores them in a building in the Midwest.

It’s the most popular program on the network, and it usually airs during the summer months (except for a holiday special in December). It’s fun, it’s fanciful and it’s got great characters.

There’s a new character arriving named Steve Jinx, played by Aaron Ashmore. Viewers might remember him as Jimmy Olsen in the recent Smallville show. A lot of fuss is being made that the new guy is gay, but that’s not important at all to me.

As usual, it’s taking society time to catch up with social changes, including the Internet.

Here’s a good case in point from the Telegraph’s website:

>>Authorities have called for parties promoted on the social networking site to be prohibited in advance if police believe they pose a threat to law and order.

Last month 100 Hamburg police offers made 11 arrests when 1,600 people gatecrashed a 16-year-old girl’s birthday.

The girl, who had to flee the party, had apparently forgotten switch on her Facebook privacy settings when inviting friends to the celebration.

Time For Fireworks!
