Sometimes I feel like my little blog is not very important compared to the news of the day. After all, the passing of Osama bin Laden is dominating the news on every channel I turn on as I post this entry. I don’t have much to say about that except that I feel somewhat relieved instead of joyous. Bin Laden was responsible for the death of thousands, so the world is a safer and better place now, in my humble opinion.

But more important to me is the fact that recently this blog passed a year of bringing what interests me to the Web on a regular to somewhat-regular basis. I apologize for not always being meeting my own schedule of posting something on a daily basis, but real life has gotten in the way sometimes.

It’s been a good year, and I want to thank each and every one of you who has read what I’ve been talking about.

I’ve said a lot of things I’ve wanted to communicate for some time.

For instance, I wanted to make sure my rantings about Batman were up where people could read them (and I could enjoy looking back over what I said). Those posts were originally from the COMSTAR newsletter/publication, which is produced by the U.S.S. Chesapeake Star Trek/Science Fiction club.

The two posts I got the most response to had to do with my Mom and Dad. I wanted to say how much I missed both of them, and the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day holidays really felt like the best time to do that. So many people told me how much they related to what I said. I’m not sure how I can follow that up this year.

In the past year, I got to launch my own podcast, called Wayne’s Comics. Unless I’ve been sick as a dog, I’ve been putting a new edition up on a weekly basis. I wanted so badly to learn how to take a podcast from idea through finished product, and I think it’s turned out pretty well. Of course there are ways I want to improve it, but for now, I’ll enjoy exploring what I can in the current format. Thanks again to Ian M. Cullen, who I co-host the SFP-Now podcast with, for giving me the chance to take this step forward.

Many weekends, I’ve enjoyed giving people a chance to listen to some of my favorite music. Although they haven’t been my highest-viewed entries, I still think they make a good break from the usual daily subject matter. And some folks tell me when I don’t meet the musical standards they think I should, which I appreciate.

I’ve learned how to post music on my blog (which is always on the right) and how to post an embeddable player for the podcasts I’m involved with. I keep learning new things all the time!

This will be post #212 for me. I’ve marked the passing of 100 and 200 posts in the past, and I’ll probably do more celebrating of milestones as I go forward.

I hope to hear from more of you as time goes on. Feedback is a wonderful thing, even if it includes ways you think I’m not holding up my end of things.

So, on we go into another year of blogging! Please stick with me, and I promise to be as interesting as possible!

I can’t think of a better video to show than the one below:
