I’m enjoying something of a rarity in my life–a day when I don’t have to run somewhere! How great is that?
I thought I’d continue my holiday tradition of playing videos of holiday songs I really enjoy, so here goes:
She’s got a new holiday CD this year, but this melancholy song remains one of my favorites from Mariah Carey:
Jim Brickman, one of my favorite musicians, does a wonderful medley of tunes from A Charlie Brown Christmas:
Evie Tornquist Karlsson was influential in Christian music when I was in college, so I was happy to find she had released a CD collecting her previous holiday songs with some new ones. “Move Me Closer” is a great story song that I’ve come to treasure:
Bette Midler does a holiday version of “From A Distance” that I like. Here’s a live version of that:
And finally, one of the best parts of the holiday season is getting to hear Karen Carpenter on my radio again. This is the song we hear most of all, and it is nice to see her singing it:
Next weekend: More great holiday music!
